bruce cockburn's 93 release, 'christmas' is the rare holiday compilation that doesn't have me looking for rope and a footstool by U.S. thanksgiving.

his instrumental of adeste fidelis is most serene.

no doubt, garcia and grisman would bring just the right emotion to the 'huron carol'.

With you all the way on the quality of the Bruce Cockburn album, Ian. I always look forward to digging it out again come December. For another Canadian's take on Christmas there's Jane Siberry's Child album (1997) - In the Bleak Midwinter floors me every time - and me a cynical atheist too!

snow had fallen, snow on snow...

to date, we've only had a dusting, a sure sign that the bleak mid-winter isn't that far away.

here's to light therapy visors!

Absolutely not a sign of snow in southern England - the trees still have most of their leaves and its November for heaven's sake!

Really nice pics, Ian. I specially like the sunflower. You have a good eye (and probably ear since you're here) for composition.

in the winter the temps can vary around here by as much as 20 or 30 degrees F for every 10 or 20 miles...we just happened to get the deep freeze this time around...it was only a couple of weeks ago that the temp was consistently (and unseasonably) above freezing...the sinister benefits of global warming!
